PetroChina Canada’s MacKay River Commercial Project is located 30 kilometres northwest of Fort McMurray within the boreal forest that many wildlife call home. PetroChina Canada strives to successfully work in the boreal forest while respecting the environment around us.
Motion-sensing cameras are an integral part of PetroChina Canada’s wildlife monitoring program. Photos from the cameras enable us to determine how wildlife are using different habitat features around the MacKay River Commercial Project. This helps us determine if there's anything we can do differently to support wildlife habitat. The information gathered from the images are also used to assess our efforts such as reclamation activities and wildlife crossings over aboveground pipelines.
Pictured on this page are moose captured by PetroChina Canada’s motion-sensing cameras at different times of the day.
